  • What is the North American League?
    • The North American League (“NAL”) is a series of shows that offer events for Children’s Hunters and Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Jumpers, and Low Jr/AO Jumpers
  • How may a show offer NAL events?
    • USEF Show organizers complete and submit an application to hold NAL events – at least 30 days before their event. Show application
  • Do I have to be a member?
    • Membership is not required to compete in a NAL classic (or class), but only current members earn points towards the finals.
  • Where are the finals?
    • Members earn points toward the finals – The NAL National Finals will be held during the Capital Challenge Horse Show.
    • The West Coast Finals will be held at the International Jumping Festival.
  • Do I have to sign up the horse too?
    • Only the rider need join, not the horse or pony. Annual membership is $40 per rider. A rider may earn points on any number of horses. Horse and rider combinations are ranked.
  • How do I earn points?
    • Points are earned in NAL jumper classics and NAL hunter classics (and hunter classes). The number of competitors determines how many points are awarded. Complete specifications
  • Where may I find a rider membership application?
    • Rider memberships may be submitted online on our membership page, paper forms may be mailed and can be downloaded from our membership page. Memberships may also be submitted at member shows or by contacting the league office at nal@ryegate.com.
  • How soon after I join is my membership active?
    • Memberships are valid when received in the league office, with full payment. A member will be credited for points earned at any NAL event held within the previous 10 days, and all future events. Memberships are not made “retroactive.”
  • Where may I find a list of shows which offer NAL events?
    • The list of upcoming events is available here.
  • How do I get a prize list or premium book for a show?
    • You must contact each show for a prize list, and entry information. This information is not available through the league office.
  • Where may I find standings?
    • The website is updated each Friday, with new standings and the revised upcoming shows list.
  • How do I know which shows are included in the standings?
    • Go to the “results not received” list on the NAL web page. Results are processed as they are received. Please allow 3 weeks for results to be received and processed.
  • Where may I find finals information?
    • Finals information is available on the league web page. League members (as of June 1) will receive a prize list for the finals. Members must submit a completed PNHS entry, on time, with the qualifying fee, to be eligible. Members will not be “invited” to compete in the finals!
  • What is the qualifying period for the finals?
    • All classes held at shows starting on or after September 1 through shows starting on or before August 31 will be counted toward this year’s finals.
  • What were last year’s cut-off points?
    • “Last years points” are not relevant towards the current year. The top horse/rider combinations that enter the finals will be accepted.
  • Do I have to join every year?
    • Yes. If you want your points to “count.”
